Dear Teresa,
As August draws to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the growth, healing, and connection that have shaped our journey this past month. The transition from summer to fall gently reminds us of the natural ebb and flow of life—inviting us to embrace change and find hope in every season.
As the warm days of summer give way to the crisp air of autumn, we find ourselves in a moment of reflection and renewal. The shift from one season to the next is a beautiful reminder of life’s rhythms—encouraging us to nurture our well-being, embrace change, and find hope in each new day. Take a moment to look back on your own journey. What changes have you embraced? What memories have you cherished? And most importantly, what are you hopeful for as we step into a new month?
Embracing change as September unfolds, we stand at the threshold of autumn. September encourages us to embrace the changes in our lives, much like the leaves turning from vibrant green to warm, earthy tones. The days grow shorter, the air crisper, and the landscape shifts, reminding us of the cyclical nature of life—the inevitable transitions we all navigate, both in the world around us and within our hearts.
The autumn of grief, just as trees shed their leaves to make way for new growth in the spring, our grief journeys also have seasons of shedding and renewal. Fall can be a particularly poignant time for those who are grieving. The changing landscape mirrors the internal shifts that accompany loss—the letting go of what once was, quiet reflection on what remains, and the tentative steps toward what might yet be.
Honoring the Process of change with the arrival of September, we are encouraged to welcome new beginnings with open hearts, finding beauty and growth in the transitions we experience. Grief, much like the seasons, is not static. It evolves. In the early days, grief may feel like a relentless summer storm—intense and all-consuming. As time passes, it can settle into a quiet autumn—still present, and perhaps softer, more reflective. You might notice changes in how you experience your grief as the years go by. Some days may be easier, others unexpectedly difficult, much like the unpredictable weather of September.
This season invites us to honor the changes in our grief, to allow ourselves the space to feel whatever comes up, and to let go of what no longer serves us. It is okay to release old expectations and create new traditions or rituals that resonate with who you are today.
Finding Comfort in Autumn’s Embrace
As the world around us prepares to rest, we, too, can find comfort in slowing down and turning inward. Take time this month to nurture yourself—whether through quiet walks in nature, journaling, or simply sitting with a warm cup of tea and reflecting on your journey.
Take a moment to consider your journey. How has grief affected your physical health? What small steps can you take this month to care for your body? Remember, nurturing your physical well-being is a vital part of healing.
